A drive for an electric timepiece comprises a mechanically driven balance or other oscillatory member coupled electromagnetically with a drive circuit comprising two transistors 1, 2 to the collector of each of which is connected a coil 3 or 4 in which drive and control voltages are generated, a capacitor 5 or 6 inserted between each collector and the base of the other transistor, and a resistor 7 or 8 connecting each base to a voltage source 10, and the product of the resistance and capacitance of the resistor 7 or 8 and the capacitor 5 or 6, expressed in units of time is longer than the period of natural oscillation of the balance or other oscillator, and the drive circuit, functions as an astable multi-vibrator and imports driving pulses to the balance or other oscillator twice in each period of oscillation of said balance or other oscillator. The balance may comprise two wheels 13, 14 carrying magnets 17, 19 and 18, 20, respectively co-operating with fixed coils 3, 4. Alternatively the mechanical oscillator may comprise a vibratory leaf 29 Fig. 10 (not shown) carrying a magnet which drives a magnetic escapement wheel of a reverse escapement. |
