PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of outputting image data not affected by residual charges stored in the previous read while suppressing the load of data correcting processing. SOLUTION: After a filter switching part switches a color filter, following a dummy read operation for acquiring monochrome image data, a normal read operation for acquiring the monochrome image data again is performed. The monochrome image data acquired by the normal read operation are defined as normal monochrome image data, and color image data for output are generated on the basis of the normal monochrome image data.
