PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional polymer, use thereof and an intermediate thereof. SOLUTION: A bifunctional PEG, a preparation method thereof and an intermediate thereof are provided. The functional PEG is useful in a variety of applications in medical and biomedical areas. For example, the bifunctional PEG is used in a PEGylation process of other molecules or substrates.
