<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high purity alumina powders useful as a raw material of a highly translucent alumina sintered compact and a method for producing the highly translucent alumina sintered compact using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The translucent alumina sintered compact having ≥60% all light transmittance in 600 nm measuring wavelength using a 1 mm thick sample is obtained by compacting alumina powder having ≥99.9% purity, 16-25 m<SP>2</SP>/g specific surface area and 40-80% (based on number standard) primary particle having ≤0.1 μm particle diameter, primarily sintering and after that, hot-isostatic-press (HIP)-treating. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
