<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that when a network address of a printer connected to a network is changed from a host computer, another host computer which is connected to the network and uses the printer is disconnected in communication to the printer. <P>SOLUTION: When an IP address of the printer is changed, the printer notifies a host computer on the network of the change of the network address by broadcast transmission. The printer transmits a new network address to the host computer with which communication is established.
