PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for increasing efficiency and bandwidth of a radio frequency (RF) power amplifier. SOLUTION: A system and a method for amplifying RF input signals includes amplification of power present within a high-frequency component of an input signal using a wide bandwidth amplifier having intermediate power efficiency, such as a Class AB amplifier, and amplification of power present within a low-frequency component of the input signal using a narrow bandwidth amplifier having high power efficiency, such as a synchronous buck DC/DC converter. Then, the amplified low-frequency component and high-frequency component are combined, thereby creating a signal that is the amplified RF input signal. A positive feedback loop is included between the output of the Class AB amplifier and the input of the DC/DC converter, and the amplified RF signal is stabilized. A negative feedback loop is included between the output of the DC/DC converter and the input of the Class AB amplifier, and interference attributed to the DC/DC converter is minimized.
