PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide various convenient functions in the case where a plurality of digital devices are connected. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a recording and playback apparatus wherein, a digital device system includes a television device capable of performing two-way communication between devices in accordance with a protocol predetermined between the television apparatus and a recording and playback apparatus by connecting both the apparatuses and performs two-way communication between devices in accordance with the predetermined protocol via an HDMI interface section. In both the apparatuses, a storage section is provided for storing an event ID uniquely specifying which program has been reserved. When the television apparatus requests the recording and playback apparatus to transmit event IDs of recording-reserved programs, in the recording and playback apparatus, the event IDs of the recording-reserved programs are sequentially transmitted to a side of the television apparatus.
