Phospholipase A1 can be produced industrially from a clone having a gene sequence encoding phospholipase A1. Phospholipase A1 is produced industrially by identifying the amino acid sequence for phospholipase A1 derived from Moritella sp. Strain HFHI 0014, identifying the nucleotide sequence for a gene encoding the amino acid sequence, integrating a gene having the nucleotide sequence into a host bacterium, and causing the gene to be expressed in the host bacterium. The amino acid sequence for phospholipase A1 is represented by SEQ ID NO:1 shown in the Sequence Listing, and the nucleotide sequence for the gene is represented by SEQ ID NO:2 shown in the Sequence Listing.
