<p>The reinforcing thread guide of a circular knitting machine is displaced upwardly at the end of the course, in synchronism with the movement of the end stitches of the course, such that the reinforcing thread is held perpendicularly with respect to the course (i.e. parallel with the cylinder axis) whilst it is cut by a cutter moving perpendicularly with respect to the thread. Pref. the operating mechanism for the thread guide is actuated by, and in synchronism with, the needle cylinder. The mechanism produces equal length thread tails at the beginning and end of each course.</p> |
