PURPOSE: A digital broadcasting transmitting method is provided to efficiently transmit/receive caption in an open cable and a cable ready format based environment. CONSTITUTION: Video data, audio data, and auxiliary data are multiplexed into an MPEG-2 TS(Transport Stream). The video data includes video data of the MPEG-2 format and user data. The auxiliary data includes the caption information. The caption information shows whether the caption service included in the video data is digital closed caption service analog closed caption service. The multiplexed MPEG-2 transport stream is modulated into broadcast signal.
