The present invention relates to an apparatus that allows precise control of electromagnetic fields inside a multi-mode resonant cavity. The multiple-input, multiple-output analyser (MIMO analyzer) incorporates a variety of elements, such as: wideband antennas, the grooved metal piece, various kinds of lens and non-metallic mode agitators that, together with procedures such as the siting of the test elements outside the cavity, allow control of the electromagnetic fields within. This control makes it possible to emulate the behaviour of wireless communications terminals in various real exterior and interior scenarios in a unique manner for Ricean fading and non-isotropic behaviour. Some of the elements and procedures implemented in the MIMO analyser may be used in industrial microwave multi-mode industrial applicators designed for heating, drying and curing of materials, which are known as microwave ovens, allowing enhanced process efficiency and homogenization.
