<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection-type or transflection-type liquid crystal display device including a structure for alignment control, which provides a high display quality that is free of visual recognition of display unevenness due to unevenness in the thickness of cells. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: substrates 2 and 4; a liquid crystal layer 6 sealed between the substrates 2 and 4; a pixel region which is formed on the substrate 2 and includes a reflecting region having a reflecting plate 50 for reflecting a light incident from the side of the substrate 4; a TFT, which includes a source/drain electrode made of the same formation material as the reflecting plate 50 and is formed on the substrate 2; a protective film 31 formed on the TFT; a columnar spacer 44 which is formed in a region wherein a gate bus line 12, a drain bus line 14, and the protective film 31 are laminated, and is brought into contact with both the substrates 2 and 4 that maintain a cell gap; and a projecting structure 43 which is made of the same formation material as the columnar spacer 44 in the reflecting region of the substrate 4 and controls the alignment of liquid crystal molecules. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
