PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator improved in usability by displaying an operating situation corresponding to an actual use situation. SOLUTION: This refrigerator includes a storage compartment disposed in a refrigerator body, a storage compartment door for opening and closing an opening of the storage compartment, a door front member disposed on a front face of the storage compartment door, an operation switch disposed while being kept into contact with or close to the door front member and sensing variation of electrostatic capacity, a display section for displaying a result of input of the operation switch, a lighting means for lighting the display section, a dimming means for adjusting brightness of the lighting means, and a door opening/closing detecting means for detecting opening/closing of the storage compartment door, and the input of the operation switch is invalidated when the storage compartment door is opened in a case when the input from the operation switch exists, and the lighting means is not dimmed.
