PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve assembly efficiency of a constant-velocity universal joint including balls as components. SOLUTION: The cross groove type constant-velocity universal joint 10 includes: an outer member 12; an inner member 16 formed as the same member of a transmission shaft; rolling balls 18 interposed between the inner member 16 and the outer member 12; and a retainer 20 retaining the rolling balls 18. In the cross groove type constant-velocity universal joint 10, firstly, the retainer 20 temporarily retaining the rolling balls 18 is inserted in a bottomed bowl part 24 of the outer member 12, and secondly, the inner member 16 is inserted into the bottomed bowl part 24 together with a first transmission shaft 14. In this time, a projected outer peripheral wall of the inner member 16 passes through a recess part 32 formed to be depressed in an inner peripheral wall of the retainer 20 in a loose state, and thereby interference of the inner member 16 with the retainer 20 is avoided.
