The method involves shifting a rotating body into rotational movement, and measuring vibrations and rotational frequency induced by the imbalance during the rotational movement of the body. The measuring results from measuring signals are generated and supplied to a signal processing unit. A model based evaluator is implemented for the signal processing unit by applying an amplitude and phase estimation algorithm, and the power spectral density of the measuring signals is evaluated.
