The pump (1) has an electric motor (4) provided within a housing, and a pump impeller (5) driven by the electric motor. The housing is formed as a separable, and is axially divided into two housing halves (2, 3) along a longitudinal axis. The housing halves are symmetrically formed along a mirror plane, which runs by the axis. The halves comprise detent connection elements e.g. locking projections (9) and pump connecting pieces (11), with which the halves are firmly interconnected. A seal (7) seals a pump chamber (13) opposite to the motor and seals the housing halves against each other.
