A hybrid drive device using a friction type stepless transmission device, such as a cone ring transmission device, so that the hybrid drive device has a compact configuration and is able to perform reliable torque transmission and shift. A case (11) is partitioned in an oil-tight manner by a partition wall (12) into a first space (A) and a second space (B). The first space (A) has contained therein a friction type stepless transmission device (3) and is filled with traction oil. The second space (B) has contained therein a gear power transmitting device (7) which is a part of the transmission path for transmitting the rotation of an electric motor (2) to a differential device (5), and the second space (B) is filled with a lubricating oil.
