Disclosed is a ballpoint pen tip (1) wherein a ball (3) is rotatably held by a plurality of inwardly projecting sections (4) formed by pressing and deforming radially inward a side wall (20) close to the tip of a metallic pipe (2) and a tip end (22) formed by pressing and deforming radially inward the tip of the pipe. A front-side lateral area (40) of each inwardly projecting section (4) facing the ball has a shape of nearly a triangular pyramid, which is provided with one front-side ridge (42) extending from the top (41) to a pipe inner periphery surface (20a) and two lateral-side ridges (45) extending from the top (41) to the pipe inner periphery surface (20a) so as to expand and open from each other. In the areas from the front-side ridge (42) to the respective lateral-side ridges (45), two generally flat front-side lateral surfaces (46) extending from the top (41) to the pipe inner periphery surface (20a) are arranged. At the front-side ridge (42), a ball pedestal (43) for supporting the ball is formed.
