<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data storage apparatus and data writing/reading method capable of restoring data even when a memory chip fails. <P>SOLUTION: Error detectors 13-1 to 13-4 add an error detection code to write data from a RAID controller 12 in the unit of one page. Then, a memory unit writes the write data with the error detection code added into a semiconductor memory in the unit of one page. Also, the error detectors 13-1 to 13-4 determine, during reading, whether or not there is a data error in read data from memory units 14-1 to 14-4 on the basis of the error detection code.
