PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for assembling a valve cotter and a retainer capable of enhancing the efficiency and reliability of assembling the valve cotter and the retainer and supplying a large amount of parts to which the valve cotter and the retainer are assembled. SOLUTION: The assembling device includes a valve cotter conveying means 1 which conveys the valve cotters with their small diameter semicircular surfaces facing down, their large diameter semicircular surfaces facing up, and their outer circumferential surfaces facing outside while they are aligned, a retainer conveying means 2 conveying the retainers while aligning them, a locking claw 10 locking the valve cotters to cause them to wait at a waiting position, a valve cotter transferring means 12 for sequentially cutting out each set of the valve cotters and transferring them to an assembling position, an index 5 for transferring the retainers to a position below the assembling position in the valve cotter transferring means 12, and an assembling means 3 for assembling the valve cotters in the assembling position by fitting them in the holes of the retainers transferred by the index 5.
