PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-resolution electrophoretic display panel which allows display of three colors in one pixel and is prevented from the reduction in aperture portions. SOLUTION: A plurality of electrophoretic display elements capable of displaying three colors in one pixel are arranged in a matrix and are driven by an active matrix driving system. Thus, since respective pixel electrode can be driven independently, three colors can be freely displayed in respective pixels arranged in the matrix. Consequently, an image of high quality comprising three or more colors can be displayed within a display range of the electrophoretic display panel with a high resolution corresponding to a pixel size. Micro-ribs constituting pixel sections are formed on scanning lines, signal lines, auxiliary capacity lines, and TFTs, whereby large aperture portions where top surfaces of pixel electrodes 120 are exposed can be obtained.
