PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exterior material for building and a coating liquid for building exterior, excellent in decomposing property of harmful gas, anti-mold property and anti-algae property while suppressing deterioration of a substrate. SOLUTION: The exterior material for building includes a photocatalyst layer on a substrate surface, and is characterized in that: the photocatalyst layer is obtained by applying a photocatalyst coating liquid and drying; the photocatalyst coating liquid includes photocatalytic metal oxide particles, silica particles, a curable silicone emulsion, a water-soluble copper compound and water; the silica particles are partially coated or modified with a substance having a hydrophobic group; and the photocatalytic metal oxide particles have oxidizing power greater than reducing power.
