<p>Disclosed is an image reading device and document transfer method for reducing the time involved in processing such as discharge processing in which documents that are being transferred are discharged, and in blank-feed processing of documents remaining in the paper-feed tray, when document reading is halted. A transfer control section (32) outputs a path designation signal to select a single-side path and switch the transfer route from a double-side path to the single-side path, when a stop key (212) is operated during double-side reading and reading is instructed to be halted. Therefore, processing such as discharge processing in which documents that are being transferred when reading is halted are discharged to a discharge tray (12) and blank-feed processing in which documents remaining in a paper-feed tray (11) are discharged to the discharge tray (12) are performed using the single-side path which is shorter than the double-side path, which makes it possible to reduce the time involved in processing such as discharge processing and blank-feed processing.</p> |
