<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent blurring into an image by filtering pixel values in a region close to a boundary region between two adjacent blocks in the image. <P>SOLUTION: The strength of filtering is increased in proportion to the boundary strength corresponding to the boundary between the blocks. When either one of the two blocks is intra-encoded, the boundary strength is set to a first value (1), and when neither of the two blocks is intra-encoded and has a conversion coefficient which is not zero and reference images to be used for motion compensation prediction of the two blocks are different, or either one of absolute values of differences of components of motion vectors to be used for the motion compensation prediction of the two blocks is equal to or larger than a predetermined threshold, the boundary strength is set to a second value (2), the first value being set to be larger than the second value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
