PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a low-pressure discharge lamp preventing damage of a sealed end of a glass tube when heating a mercury emitter. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the low-pressure discharge lamp provided with an electrode structure 101 on at least one end of the glass tube 100 includes the steps of: inserting the electrode structure 101 into the glass tube 100 through an opening 100a on one end of the glass tube 100; fixing the electrode structure 101 to the inside of the glass tube 100; inserting the mercury emitter 111 into the glass tube 100 through the opening 100a on one end of the glass tube 100; forming a projection 112 projecting on the inside of the glass tube 100 among one end of the glass tube 100, the electrode structure 101, and the mercury emitter 111; sealing the glass tube 100 at a point closer to one end of the glass tube 100 than the projection 112; and heating the mercury emitter 111.
