The method involves determining the angular position of a rotor (2) or a stator (4) of an electric machine (13). The angular position is determined by a resolver formed at rotor winding (3) and stator windings (5,6,14). The rotor winding is subjected to an alternating current which has an excitation frequency. An independent claim is also included for an electric machine.
