PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber for stacking steps of an escalator saving resources while preventing friction of brackets of steps with each other in a stuck state. SOLUTION: A fitting 15 of a step 10 is supported from a tip end in an inclined edge 23c of a bracket 23 of a step 20 via shock absorbing members 30. A tip end of an inclined edge 13c of a bracket 13 of the step 10 is supported from an outer face of a fitting 25 of the step 20 via shock absorbing members 30. The plurality of shock absorbing members 30 jointly supports the step 10 from the step 20 while the bracket 13 of the step 10 and the bracket 23 of the step 20 are spaced from each other.
