PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and a program which is able to superimpose an additional information image having higher detection accuracy than that of individually arranged additional information images, while referring to a document image, when superimposing the additional information image on the document image. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes a document image capturing means 160 for capturing a document image; an additional information image capturing means 164 for capturing an additional information image obtained by representing additional information which is to be added to the document image captured by the document image capturing means, with a dot arrangement constituted of dots having predetermined sizes and intervals; a determination means 166 for determining the arrangement, of at least either the document image or the additional information image so as to reduce the interference, when the document image captured by the document image capturing means and the additional information image captured by the additional information image capturing means are superimposed; and a superimposing means 168 for superimposing the document image and the additional information image in the arrangement determined by the determination means.
