PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin identification device capable of identifying a coin by sufficiently high resolution while allowing the change in relative positional relationship between the coin and an outer diameter detecting magnetic sensor due to the deposition of dust or the like. SOLUTION: The coin identification device includes: a material quality detection unit 311 for detecting the material quality of a coin C by detecting a magnetic field change corresponding to the material quality of the coin C by a material quality detecting magnetic sensor 11; a material thickness detection unit 313 for detecting the thickness and surface ruggedness of the coin C by detecting a magnetic field change corresponding to the thickness and surface ruggedness of the coin C by a material thickness detecting magnetic sensor 12; and an outer diameter detection unit 312 for detecting the outer diameter of the coin C by detecting a magnetic field change corresponding to the outer diameter of the coin C by an outer diameter detecting magnetic sensor 13. The outer diameter detection unit 312 detects the outer diameter of the coin C by an output signal of the magnetic field change detected by the outer diameter detecting magnetic sensor 13 when an output of the magnetic field change detected by at least either one of the material quality detecting magnetic sensor 11 and the material thickness detecting magnetic sensor 12 is a predetermined value.
