PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a composite image by compositing a plurality of images obtained by photographing an object while changing a photographing range, the composite image having high resolution for a focal point area in the composite image. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus which photographs the plurality of images while changing the photographing area is provided. The imaging apparatus detects the focal point area, moves an optical axis correction lens for correcting an optical axis, and thus, changes the photographing range based on a position of the detected focal point area so that the focal point area is superimposed and photographed to photograph the plurality of images. Then, the imaging apparatus composites the plurality of photographed images to generate the composite image in which the image of the focal point area becomes the image with predetermined resolution.
