PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breakage in a magnet of the rotor, facilitate accurate assembling work, and enhance electric motor characteristics to the maximum when an electric motor is assembled. SOLUTION: The electric motor is obtained by incorporating a resin-molded permanent-magnet rotor in a stator and opposing the permanent magnets of the rotor to the stator core of the stator. The axial sectional shape of the outer circumferential surface of the rotor is a recessed shape defined by the outer circumferential surfaces of the permanent magnets and the maximum outside diameter part of a resin part including them and the maximum outside diameter part of the resin part and the inside diameter of the stator core are so set that they are substantially equal to each other. When the rotor is incorporated into the stator, it is inserted so that the maximum outside diameter part of the resin part is in contact with the inner circumference of the stator core or a minimum gap is provided therebetween. After this incorporation, the maximum outside diameter part of the resin part is arranged with a predetermined gap provided between it and both ends of the stator core in the direction of the axis of the stator.
