The method involves bringing a window pane (14) in to contact with a mechanical stop (16) by an electrical drive (12). The window pane, which is found in the closing position, is pressed against the mechanical stop after contact with the mechanical stop in dependence of a speed of a motor vehicle after a predetermined time period. The time period is fixed as a constant value and/or as linear value and/or as a non-linear value depending on the speed of the motor vehicle and/or temperature within intervals of the speed and/or the temperature. An independent claim is also included for a window lift device for bringing a window pane of a motor vehicle in a closed position.
