PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly attach an ink cartridge to an ink cartridge attaching part by a small force. SOLUTION: Four ink feeding needle inserting holes 24-27 as insertion load generating parts are arranged on one side in the short-side direction on a front end surface 22 in an insertion direction of a cartridge case 21 of the ink cartridge 20. In addition to a waste ink collecting needle inserting hole 29 as an insertion load generating part, and an atmosphere releasing needle inserting hole 30, a container side engagement projection 38 as an insertion load generating part and for locking the ink cartridge 20 to an attachment position is arranged on the other side. Right and left insertion loads on the front end surface 22 are almost equal to each other. Therefore, the insertion load is prevented from greatly changing even if a position to press the ink cartridge 20 changes at the time of insertion, and also a pressing force is prevented from being in a different direction from the insertion direction.
