摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device having improved emitting strength and hue and a reduced change in chromaticity at a wide viewing angle. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent device includes, at least, an organic electroluminescent element including at least a light-emitting layer between a pair of electrodes, and a light extraction member shaped as part of a half sphere that a sphere is split in half. The refractive index of the light-emitting layer is almost the same as that of the light extraction member, the light extraction member is located on the optical path of light emitted from the light-emitting layer, and the center of the light-emitting layer is at the same position as the center of the light extraction member. On the cross section perpendicular to the surface of the light-emitting layer at the center of the light extraction member, the light extraction member has a light extraction face cut out to be even with the bottom face of the light extraction member and parallel to the bottom face of the half sphere, wherein a vertical line is drawn at an angle of 0° from the light extraction member to the end of the surface of the light-emitting layer, a straight line is drawn at 60° to the vertical line from an intersection between the vertical line and the bottom face of the light extraction member to the same side of the light extraction member as the end of the surface of the light-emitting layer, and contact points between the straight line and an arcuate portion of the light extraction member are joined to each other via the straight line.
