DIRECT DRIVE MOTOR AND ROTARY MACHINE EMPLOYING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct drive motor with enhanced resistance to applied load. SOLUTION: For a direct drive motor with a configuration common to this type of direct drive motor, the following measure is taken: a flange to be an installation margin is integrally formed in the outer ring 31 and the inner ring 32 of a bearing 3; the bearing 3 is placed between a shaft 2 and the load-side cover 12 of a casing 1 so that a thrust load can be exerted as a contact pressure from part of the shaft 2 to the flange of the inner ring 32 and a thrust load can be exerted as a contact pressure from the flange of the outer ring 31 to the load-side cover 12 of the casing 1; and the shaft 2 is fixed on the flange of the inner ring 32 with a bolt 34 and the flange of the outer ring 31 is fixed on the load-side cover 12 of the casing 1 with a bolt 33.
