PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter and a transmission method, a receiver and a reception method, and a radio communication system and a radio communication method for reducing PAPR, while reducing computational complexity required for roll-off waveform shaping in a CI/OFDM system. SOLUTION: In the radio communication system, the transmitter uses IFFT processing for diffusion processing of a data symbol using an orthogonal code. Also, filtering each subcarrier component is performed by simple processing for multiplying a filter coefficient of a Nyquist filter in a frequency region for roll-off waveform shaping in an OFDM signal to be generated. The receiver multiplies each subcarrier component by a filter coefficient corresponding to reverse characteristics of frequency characteristics in a Nyquist filter used by the transmitter, for demodulation processing of the received OFDM signal. A FFT processing is further used for inverse diffusion processing of the data symbol using the orthogonal code. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
