PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the moving speed of an objective lens with high accuracy in track brake control which processes a digital tracking error signal. SOLUTION: The tracking error signal is sampled by a sampling frequency n×fs to obtain n pieces of delayed sampling data 1 to n sampling periods before. The amount of change in the value between each piece of the sampling data and preceding sample data is determined. Moreover, a value obtained by adding the amount of change is treated as the moving speed of the objective lens. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
