PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform removal of a remaining bill and confirmation of abnormality presence/absence of a carriage part without dedicatedly providing a storage place of a patrol ticket. SOLUTION: This bill processor is provided with, inside a temporary holding part 4 of a received bill P: first and second tapes 42, 44 for pinching the bill P; a bill winding drum 41 winding the bill P in a state that the bill P is pinched between the first and second tapes 42, 44; and a tape detection sensor SE2 having an optical axis associated to a direction to penetrate faces of the first and second tapes 42, 44. The first and second tapes 42, 44 are divided into light non-transmissive areas 42N, 44N shutting off the optical axis of the tape detection sensor SE2 and light transmissive areas 42S, 44S penetrated by the optical axis. The patrol ticket PT circulating along the carriage part 8 is wound and stored in the state where the patrol ticket PT is positioned in the light transmissive areas 42S, 44S.
