PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a difference in gloss between a toner image produced on the first surface and that produced on the second surface, in an image forming apparatus for forming an image on both surfaces of a recording material. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a plurality of image forming sections. Toner used for the developing means 4 of the plurality of image forming sections A and B have the same color and different thermal-melting characteristics. In duplex image forming mode, the ratios of the toner different in thermal-melting characteristics, in the toner image formed on the recording material are variable between when the image is formed on the first surface of the recording material and when the image is formed on the second surface of the recording material.
