PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and a display control method which allow the reduction in current consumption in processing for display expansion. SOLUTION: A display device 100 including an LCD panel 101 where a plurality of pixels are arranged includes: a plurality of hold circuits 10 that are provided by line of pixels and hold pixel data input to pixels; and switching circuits 11 which are provided by line of pixels and in which pixel data is input from the plurality of hold circuits 10 corresponding to the plurality of pixels continuously arrayed in a line direction and which select pixel data input from some hold circuits 10 to input the pixel data to pixels.
