PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and simple removal method of calcium. SOLUTION: A method for concentrating a saccharified liquid is obtained by a saccharification treatment of a cellulose-based biomass raw material by means of an NF membrane or an RO membrane. In the method, sodium carbonate is added, before the saccharified liquid is applied to the NF membrane or the RO membrane, to the saccharified liquid to cause calcium existing as a calcium ion in the saccharified liquid to deposit as calcium carbonate, and the resultant deposit is removed from the saccharified liquid.
