PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifetime estimation method and a lifetime estimation system for unifying a function used for a lifetime estimation, simplifying a calculation process, outputting a social lifetime of a device, and easily preparing a maintenance plan. SOLUTION: The lifetime estimation method finds a time when the corrosion quantity of copper for composing a wiring pattern on a printed board reaches a preset corrosion quantity threshold value due to a corrosive gas, and estimates the lifetime of the printed board by a computer system. The method includes: the step for storing a corrosion deterioration expression for representing the corrosion quantity of the copper as a function of a corrosive gas concentration in an ambient environment, the humidity and an exposure time to the corrosive gas; the step for creating and storing a deterioration characteristic for indicating a relationship between the exposure time and the corrosion quantity by using the corrosion deterioration expression, and actual measurement values of the corrosive gas concentration and the humidity; and the step for estimating and outputting the lifetime of the printed board from the exposure time corresponding to an intersection between the deterioration characteristic and the corrosion quantity threshold value.
