PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To faithfully reproduce gradation property in the case of writing respective pixels in the image data inputted by a writing element. SOLUTION: A writing controller 20, on the basis of inputted image data, forms a switching signal showing presence/absence of writing for every pixel of the image data and, on the basis of the switching signal, outputs a light source driving signal that drives a light source LD for writing by each pixel.
