<p>Provided are a near-field light emitter, light-assisted magnetic recording head, and light-assisted magnetic recording device capable of good emission of near-field light. The near-field light emitter (30) mainly has a lower portion cladding (32), an upper portion cladding (33), an external portion core (35), a thin wire core (40), a low refractive index layer (46), and a plasmon light collector (47). The low refractive index layer (46) is a SiO2 layer formed on the lower portion cladding (32) and the plasmon light collector (47). The plasmon light collector (47) is a substantially planar metal structure formed, for example, of Au. Here, the field component of light coupled to the optical waveguide (30a) vibrates on a vibrating surface that is substantially perpendicular to a core cladding boundary surface. Also, the width of the plasmon light collector (47) in a direction that is substantially perpendicular to the vibrating surface becomes narrower toward a light emitter (48) side from the external portion core (35) side of the optical waveguide (30a).</p> |
