PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio amplifier that can be automatically adjusted in volume even if it is used with an amplifier saturated at a source voltage and difficult to adjust a volume automatically like one for mobile radio equipment, and also to provide a method of adjusting an output thereof. SOLUTION: The audio amplifier is so configured or controlled as to monitor a change in source voltage and adjust an input signal level into an amplification circuit or adjust a variable gain means of the amplification circuit in compliance with the change in source voltage to correct even a change in the output of the amplifier with the change in source voltage.
