PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time for checking a memory before starting execution of a program. SOLUTION: A car navigation apparatus 1 includes: a flash ROM 14 storing a navigation program 20; and a CPU 10. The CPU 10 inspects existence of an error in the bit value of the navigation program 20 stored in the flash ROM 14, functions as a means for rewriting the navigation program with a navigation backup program 21 when the error is inspected, executes an inspection for a part of a data block formed by dividing the navigation program 20 into a plurality of portions as an inspection object before starting the execution of the navigation program 20, and executes inspection for the whole navigation program 20 or the data blocks other than the data block inspected before starting the execution of the navigation program 20 as inspection objects after starting the execution of the navigation program 20.
