PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience and safety in starting a vehicle. SOLUTION: This engine start device 10 includes: an engine preheating part 21 that starts preheating of an internal combustion engine 16 in the case of preheating of the engine being determined to be necessary when a depression operation of a clutch is detected and a predetermined engine start operation is detected; a display control unit 23 that performs a display that prompts execution of a depression of a clutch pedal while a depression operation of the clutch pedal is not detected before predetermined time elapses since the completion of preheating; and an engine start control unit 22 starting the internal combustion engine 16 in the case of the depression operation of the clutch pedal being detected while the display that prompts execution of depression operation of the clutch pedal is performed, and prohibiting start of the internal combustion engine 16 in the case of the depression operation of the clutch pedal being detected after the predetermined time elapses since the completion of preheating of the internal combustion engine 16.
