PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exterior material for building and a coating liquid for building exterior, from which high photocatalytic decomposition activity can be obtained even when a film having a film thickness of over 2μm is formed so as to suppress deterioration of an enamel coating surface or a clear coating surface. SOLUTION: The exterior material for building includes a photocatalyst layer on a substrate surface, and is characterized in that: the photocatalyst layer is obtained by applying a photocatalyst coating liquid and drying; the photocatalyst coating liquid includes photocatalytic metal oxide particles, silica particles and a curable silicone emulsion; and the photocatalytic metal oxide particles and the silica particles are partially coated or modified with a substance having a hydrophobic group.
