PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker capable of preventing an erroneous water amount and the deterioration of deliciousness due to the erroneous detection of a rice cooking amount by detecting a water level and a rice amount before cooking rice. SOLUTION: The rice cooker includes: a body 1; an outer lid 10 whose one end is rotatably attached to the hinge 16 of the body 1, so as to open/close the upper opening of the body 1; a pot shape container 5 to be removably stored in the body 1; a heating coil 3 arranged in the bottom of the body 1, so as to heat the pot shape container 5; a CCD image sensor 15 for photographing a cooking object inside the pot shape container 5 stored in the body 1 before cooking rice; and a control part for recognizing the rice amount and the water level, based on the cooking object photographed by the CCD image sensor 15, and controlling the power of the heating coil 3 in response to the previously obtained rice amount and water level when the cooking is started.
