PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent poor cleaning caused by a lubricant excessively adhering on the surface of an image carrier. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes: the photoreceptor drum 33 on which a latent image is formed; a developing device 32 wherein the toner with the lubricant added thereto is packed, configured to deposit the toner on the photoreceptor drum to develop the latent image and form the toner image; a cleaning part 35 having a cleaning blade 35a for removing the toner adhering on the photoreceptor drum; and a control unit 110 configured to calculate the replacement amount of the toner packed in the developing device, and in the case the calculated replacement amount of the toner is the one where the blade has a pure water contact angle or more on the surface of the image carrier to cause adhesion wearing, form a toner image based on a patch image for forcible toner discharge, in a non-image area on the photoreceptor drum.
